The Russians’ Escape from Kherson — Where the Troops Pushed to the Left Bank of the Dnipro River Will Go

Ivan Sichen, an expert of the Independent Analytical Center for Geopolitical Studies “Borysfen Intel”, for Gazeta.ua

The Russian troops that fled Kherson are scattered and tired — they are not capable of normal combat operations. The occupiers lost about 10,000 people. Now the Russians will not have any opportunities to attack Mykolaiv and Odesa. Military analyst Ivan Sichen said this in a comment to Gazeta.ua.

“Most likely, those Russian troops that escaped from Kherson will remain on the left bank of the Dnipro River . It is possible that some of them will be thrown on the Donbas. But now it will be difficult to regroup them. In reality, only those who could break through, got to the left bank of the Dnipro River. They lost about 10,000 people. And those who remained are dispersed, tired and not capable of normal combat operations. The Russians abandoned their military equipment. A lot of equipment was destroyed. The troops fleeing so hastily are actually inconsistent”, says Sichen. Ukraine has greatly improved its position on the front line, the analyst adds.

“Now the Russians will not have any opportunities to attack Mykolaiv and Odesa. They will not be able to force the Dnipro River. And they will not be able to capture crossings across the Dnipro River. From a political point of view, it is even more interesting — Putin and his authorities declared these territories their own, and now they have lost them. Ukrainians there rejoice that they expelled the Rashists. This is the collapse of Putin’s regime and the idea of restoring the Russian Empire. Because Russian propagandists are already starting to criticize the dictator”, says Sichen.

The Russians occupied Kherson at the beginning of March 2022. On November 11, Ukrainian troops entered the city. The soldiers were greeted with joy by local residents.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that all the occupiers who were on the right bank of the Dnipro River were brought to the left bank. The Russians who remained in Kherson binned their uniforms and put on civilian clothes. The occupiers destroyed all critical infrastructure before fleeing.

Ukrainian television and radio broadcasts have already been resumed in Kherson.
